We discussed the synchronization of high data volumes for offline availability before. SAP has used a similar architecture with MobiLink, the Exchange Framework and SAP UI5 in what they called the SAAP - SAP Always Available Platform. Breck Carter has written a great blog post about it - SAAP Is Built On SQL Anywhere.
Now SAAP is not the official name of the product that SAP created after implementing this solution at Vantage Drilling. It is called TARS or Transaction Availability for Remote Sites.
I think it is fantastic what they achieved here: Making about 100 SAP transactions available offline, including equipments, function locations, work orders, notifications and much more. It includes data from MM, PM and IM.
The scenario described here has in the mean time been transfered to other business processes like for example into retail stores.
TARS is using the same architecture as our mobile inspection, maintenance and customer service app SAM Smart Asset Management.
This shows the power of the architecture with SQL Anywhere, MobiLink, SAP UI5 and the exchange framework. I highly recommend that you go and read Brecks blog and read it!
